Wired 2014 Technology Conference
Wired 2014 is a two day technology conference taking place between October 16th and 17th at the Tobacco Dock, London, and Psychedelic Press readers have a 10% discount on tickets!
World changing inventions and ideas are on the menu with 45 speakers covering such diverse grounds as robotics, ways to tackle corruption, transhumanism, open sourcing, and, of course, there is a techie test lab where attendees have a chance to play / test out some brilliant new gadgets.
Curated by Wired magazine, the event aims at bringing together an eclectic crowd of inventors, entrepreneurs, academics and indeed everyone curious, as the magazine comes to life in a two day consortium of radical thinking and visions for the future.
Some of the confirmed speakers so far are:
Professor Bruce Hood, who specialises in developmental cognitive neuroscience and is the Director of the Bristol Cognitive Development Centre at the University of Bristol; and sound artist, designer and electronic musician
Charmian Gooch, Nobel Peace Prize-nominated co-founder of Global Witness, which rigorously investigates those exploiting natural resources and funding conflict and corruption; world record holding British beatboxing artist and world looping champion
Andrew Hessel, distinguished research scientist with Autodesk, whose work examines the powerful opportunities and risks when anyone can easily reprogram biological life;
Lee Bofkin, a former breakdancer who runs Global Street Art, a vast repository of street art, and created the Walls Project which has organised 500 legal street art murals since 2012;
Sam Bompas, founder of: Bompas & Parr, which is a design studio specialising in flavour-based experiences, culinary research, architectural installations and contemporary food design.
Esther Dyson’s, founder of HICCup & Way to Wellville, which is an open-source challenge devoted to finding and testing models that benefit community health and return profits to investors and health to participants.
