New book! Getting Higher: The Manual of Psychedelic Ceremony by Julian Vayne is now available
It is with huge pleasure we can announce the official launch of Getting Higher: The Manual of Psychedelic Ceremony by Julian Vayne, with a foreword by Dr David Luke, and illustrations by Pete Loveday.
Available as a paperback & eBook.
Getting Higher is a manual for exploring the use of psychedelic substances in the contexts of spirituality, self-transformation and magic. The techniques presented here work whether you’re a scientist or a shaman; there’s no requirement to believe in anything other than the wonder of your own neurochemistry and the value of the psychedelic experience.
Getting Higher describes the psychedelic triangle of Set, Setting and Substance. It suggests strategies to hold and enhance the psychedelic experience; from games to play when you are high, through to complete entheogenic ceremonies. It will help you to intelligently explore the territory of both traditional sacred plants and modern magical molecules. Getting Higher is a toolbox for technicians of the sacred; ideal for both novices and experienced psychonauts. Inspired by the wisdom of ancient cultures, and informed by the latest advances in psychedelic science, this book is a powerful ally for all those following the Medicine Path.
According to Andy Letcher, author of Shroom: A Cultural History of the Magic Mushroom:
“‘Getting Higher’ is one of the most original and refreshing books on psychedelics I’ve read in a long time. Eschewing transpersonal proselytising, unreflective romanticisation of indigenous cultures, and dodgy history, he gives us instead sound and sage advice that comes steeped in a thoroughgoing practical knowledge of Western magical practices. He dances lightly through different worldviews and approaches while encouraging us to do the same, which, hell, is surely the point of psychedelics. The illustrations by Pete Loveday are just the icing on the cake. It’s a cliche, I know, but this is destined to become a classic.”
