Shambala Festival 2012 Preview

From the 23rd – 27th August, in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside, Shambala will be once again gracing us with its effervescent glory. The family friendly, independent, sustainable celebration of community and creativity will be bustling with even more magic than usual. Come and roam around the Wonderland, frolic in the woodland, be captivated by the eccentricities and have a magnificently righteous bank holiday weekend.

Dine on delicious ethically provided foods, refresh yourself in the beautiful bespoke bars and be entertained beyond the realms of imagination with the likes of these beauties. The astonishingly talented acts to be witnessed strutting their stuff on the legendary Shambala Stage include –

Vieux Farka Toure – The thirty-one year old Malian “Hendrix of the Sahara” will not only invoke an uncontrollable smile across your face but also set your spine a quiver. Roots Manuva – The much loved pioneer of UK Hip Hop will be showcasing tracks from his latest musical masterpiece “4Revolution” with his full live band. The Boxettes – Get blown away by the mesmerising, hauntingly beautiful harmony and beat box concoction that the five piece ‘girl band’ bring efforlessly. And the legendary Billy Bragg will be popping his Shambala cherry. Not to be missed.

The Kamikaze Stage will play host to the up and coming Bristolian artist Buggsy – the lyricist master of beats an tings. Slick licks, spiralling stream-lined wordplay and a face that ya mother would love. Parker –  Another talented Bristolian will be offering an edible selection of versatile cross-genre hybrids. Bass, Beats and Boogy. And as if that’s not enough, Mr Boom Monk Ben will no doubt get your feet a movin’. Head over to the Sankofa’s Stage to get a much needed dose of Lau – Starting off in Edinburgh just a few years ago, these guys have staggered many a mind. Beautiful, intricate, heart felt. Mad, merry and undeniably Folk. All this and oh so much more

It’s a whole world of shine out there. Awe-inspiring workshops, the most comfortable cinema you’ve ever seen in a field, inspirational talks and education from speakers such as the New Economics Foundation and The Idler Academy, cabaret beyond your wildest dreams hosted in the undeniably beautiful Grand Speigel tent, stand-up Comedy, spoken word sets from the up and coming to the greats, the Story Telling Yurt, the Healing Meadows, Shambala Springs and a magical, diverse array of colour for kids of all ages. Adventure to The Enchanted Woods to find out what surrealist artwork lurks in the Wilderness and keep an eye out on the Lake for this years Big Burn installation.

There are also many shiny new gems to be found such as the all girl, hidden venue ‘Lady’s Night ‘ and if you’re in need of an eyeful of innovative live performance art you can ‘Check into The Hotel’.     Just got back from Shambala 2012. Was the best fetival ever! better than The Big Chill by miles. Its no Glasto but its just so chilled and happy you cannot help but enjoy it
